Spray Foam Insulation - Apex Spray Foam
Spray foam insulation comes in 2 main forms, open cell and closed cell spray foam. In most home insulation applications open cell spray foam is used while in most commercial or industrial applications closed cell is used.
When you're looking to insulate your home the attic is your first port of call. Heat lost from your attic represents 25% of your home's total heat loss but in a home without adequate attic insulation the true heat loss via a poorly insulated attic can be much more.
As we all know heat rises, so the key to a warm home is to put a cap on your heat loss by putting in good attic insulation. Spray foam insulation is generally recognised as the best form of attic insulation for a number of reasons.
Benefits of spray foam attic insulation:
Open cell spray foam is the type of foam used in insulating attics. Its open cells allow water vapour to pass through the insulation material enabling the water vapour escape, preventing the build up of harmful damp and mold.
If your roof has not been counter battened then a 50mm air gap is required between the roofing membrane and the insulation material, this is to meet Irish Building Regulations Part L dealing with ventilation. We achieve this by attaching a breathable vent card between the rafters 50mm from the roofing felt.
Open cell spray foam expands to over 200 times its size enabling the foam to find every nook and cranny. This gives spray foam insulation unrivaled levels of airtightness in comparison to other insulation materials.
Home Insulation
Open cell spray foam insulation is the foam generally used to insulate any area of the home. This is due to the fact that moisture needs to be able to escape your home to prevent harmful damp and mold buildup and due to its open cells which allow moisture to pass through and leave your home.
Commercial Insulation
Closed cell spray foam insulation is used in most commercial or industrial applications as the surfaces are normally metal and concrete. There is therefore no need for moisture to pass through the foam as no moistures is able to pass through concrete and metal making it ideal for shed and container insulation.
Spray Foam Attic Insulation
Spray foam insulation is perfect for attic insulation as it expands to over 200 times its size filling every nook and cranny. Whether you need to add to existing insulation or as part of an attic conversion, spray foam insulation produces the best results.
Spray Foam Wall Insulation
Internal wall insulation for attic conversions or timber frame insulation are ideals insulated with open cell spray foam insulation.
Spray foam is also great for sound absorption which helps reduce annoying noise.
Spray Foam Roof Insulation
Roof insulation is sometimes needed when access to the attic might be obstructed or to back insulate an attic conversion. Roofing slates are removed and the foam is applied on the insulated boards or plaster boards with the air gap maintained.
Spray Foam Container Insulation
Shipping containers for transport, with or with refrigeration, for living or as part of an office are insulated very easily and effectively with closed cell spray foam insulation. Spray foam is applied very quickly and efficiently, with little to no waste.
Shed Insulation
Sheds with metal roofs are ideally insulated with closed cell spray foam insulation. Spray foam can be applied to maintain both hot and cold temperatures.
One of the advantages of using spray foam in shed insulation is the elimination of condensation.
