Breathable Vent Card
What is a breathable vent card?
A breathable vent card is a card placed between attic rafters exactly 50mm from the roofing felt to create an air gap that allows escaping water the opportunity to leave your structure preventing the build up of harmful damp and mold.
Open Cell Spray Foam Insulation
Open cell spray foam is used in domestic applications, in walls, floors, roof and of course attics. It expands to over 200 times its size filling every gap or nook and cranny making it the best form or insulation in terms of airtightness.
Although spray foam is unrivaled in terms of its airtightness properties it also allows water vapor to escape, preventing the buildup of harmful damp and mold.
Spray foam is applied on top of the breathable vent card that maintains the 50mm air gap.
This is to meet the requirements under
Building Regulations Technical Guidance Document L 2021
Conservation of Fuel and Energy – Buildings other than Dwellings
B.5.2.1R2(a) Insulation between and below rafters, 50mm ventilated cavity between insulation and breathable membrane.
